It's possible that we will stop being a throwaway society but I think something would have to happen for people to understand that we have to look after the only home we have- Earth. Something that would make people aware of consequences of their behavior. That they would acknowledge that throwing out trash destroys our planet and they will have to stop doing this. If they aren't be forced I don't think anything will change.
Grammatically, these two are NOT sentences: "Something that would make people aware of consequences of their behavior. That they would acknowledge that throwing out trash destroys our planet and they will have to stop doing this. " Unfortunately, they form the whole body of your paragraph.
